We’re under fire from chaotic world events; Jupiter and a New Moon in Cancer midweek helps us to pull into our shells and remember what really matters.
On Monday, we may find it hard to get back to the grind as the Sun squares off with dreamy Neptune. It’s an excellent day for creative work or just lounging, or for exploring intuition and imagination. For tackling the to-do list and minding the details, not so much. As well, people can be extra touchy and tend to take things personally. As well, Venus semisquares Jupiter, giving a tendency to overindulgence, be it in spending or ice cream.: It is tempting to overindulge today, to go overboard in expressing affection or in spending money.
On Tuesday, June 24, an aspect that carries over into the next day’s lunation fall in the wee hours. The Sun aligns with high-minded and optimistic Jupiter. Both make an uncomfortable quincunx to powermonger Pluto, indicating long-term societal dilemmas that are hard to reconcile. Our need to feel safe and protected and have a certain belief system (Jupiter in Cancer) is at odds with greater forces driving major and inexorable change (Pluto in revolutionary Aquarius). it’s hard to see a clear path towards reconciling these needs, resulting in some choppy emotional waters.
However, at 11:17 am EDT, the Sun and Jupiter will have just cleared the above aspect and make a conjunction. Jupiter is said to be cazimi, or “in the heart of the Sun,” then, undergoing a purification ritual. Happening in the sign of Cancer where the planet is traditionally exalted, the symbolism is especially auspicious. Upon emerging, it is said to open a doorway to new wisdom and guidance that can influence our paths for the next 12 months.
Think of it as a cosmic reset for Jupiter—a moment when dreams about abundance, justice, freedom, growth and spiritual upgrades are supercharged with possibility. With Jupiter cazimi, It’s a powerful invitation to renew your faith, expand your horizons, and set bold intentions for the year ahead, trusting that the universe supports your hopes and aspirations in profound ways.
On Wednesday at 6:32 am EDT, the Sun and Moon align in the sign of Cancer forming a New Moon, which sets a new agenda for the next two weeks. This annual rendezvous is an invitation to embrace “the feels,” to let the soft, nurturing light of Cancer wash over us. And to retreat into our shells for some strategic regrouping and connecting with our inner lives. This is a moment to honour vulnerability and to recognize the strength that resides in gentleness and caring for others and ourselves.
The New Moon forms a close and harmonious sextile aspect to Mars in Virgo. This aspect enhances self-confidence and courage, but in a measured and purposeful way. It can inspire us to take either initiative or risks that are calculated and based on common sense.
Cancerian qualities such as empathy, the nurturing urge, intuition and sensitivity are heightened by the New Moon’s close conjunction to Jupiter. This planet expands whatever it touches, ordinarily a good thing. However, outer planets Neptune, Saturn, and Pluto are in hard aspect to both the lunation and Jupiter. Saturn throws cold water on any expansionist tendencies and may bring fear into the mix, while Neptune sows uncertainty and disillusionment. Both of the latter planets are in the militant sign of Aries, with world events stirring the intense atmosphere.
They all form a special formation called a yod focused on Pluto. This indicates powerfully explosive events that can feel fated or that mark an important turning point. There is also, unfortunately, a tendency to exaggerate perceived threats and to act compulsively in trying to keep in control. Self-awareness is the key, for both ourselves and our leaders. However, this configuration can also mean a breakthrough or turnaround in power struggles, and holds the potential for quantum leaps in spiritual growth.
On Thursday, Mercury is the newsmaker as it enters the sign of Leo. It makes a prolonged stay there—until September 2. This is due to the planet’s retrograde phase, which begins on July 18. Mercury in the Lion’s lair is like summer camp for the mind: and chance to play and perhaps embrace our inner performer, speaking out boldly and articulating with flair.
Mercury enters Leo: Mercury will be in expressive Leo for an extended period this year (June 26 to September 2), due to the Messenger Planet going retrograde on July 18. During these weeks, people tend to be more confident, colorful, and dramatic in their communications. The mind is creative and drawn to story-telling. With Mercury in the sign of the Lion, some people could roar more, listen less, and use words to intimidate. It’s a time when storytelling becomes both an art and a tool, helping us not just to communicate, but to inspire, persuade, and connect on deeper levels. Yet, it is wise to temper this newfound confidence with active listening, lest the urge to dominate the conversation overshadows the insights and voices of others.
The Moon enters Leo on Friday, highlighting the above themes. The urge to entertain is overwhelming and gratifying, whether showing off a skill or hosting an event. Fortunately, Mercury trines Saturn helping us to focus on practical matters, too. We can both find creative solutions and make decisions with long-term positive outcomes.
The trend continues into the first half of the weekend. On Saturday, a Mercury-Neptune trine casts a rosy glow over what we think and communicate about relationships, romantic liaisons especially. Intuition and creativity thrive, helping us to make important spiritual realizations and inspiring many forms of artistic expression, especially film, photography and digital art.
By evening, though, the winged planet opposes powermonger Pluto. We may express ourselves too strongly or use words to dominate or control. It’s best to avoid verbal debates, lest they get out or hand. Same goes for extreme messaging or propaganda. Objectivity, though hard to come by, is the key.
Sunday’s outlook is calmer, as the Moon enters logical Virgo. A series of uncomfortable lunar aspects suggest it might be best to lie low, perhaps puttering around the house completing chores. Unplug and take a break from draining people and information overload. It’s also an excellent time for some self-care, recharging the batteries for the workweek to come.
