One, two, paradigm shift as a new cycle that kicked off with yesterday’s potent New Moon gets underway, portents of bigger changes to come.
We’re reminded of the mask of Janus, which has two faces, one looking back, the other forward. Janus was the ancient Roman god of beginnings, transitions, doorways, and endings.
Yesterday’s Capricorn New Moon began a new cycle conducive for fresh starts, especially in areas like career, finances and personal ambitions. While Capricorn New Moons typically emphasize patience and long-term planning, a trine to Uranus sparked momentum that can carry over the next two weeks. Intentions can manifest quickly if we commit to specific, practical goals. Combine structured planning with bold reinvention, and embrace change while staying grounded.
With many outer planets in the final degrees of their signs, it’s important to gain closure to a long cycle. This is the final full week of Neptune in Pisces as it hits the final degree of Pisces, and so we near the end of a 15-year cycle. The time for inner reflection and spiritual explorations is waning. Soon we will be called to put what was dreamed or imagined into action. This is a good week to think back to the progress you’ve made since 2011 when it first entered the sign. Its harmonious connection to the Capricorn New Moon this week will help us intuit the clues.
For over the next 10 days, four planets that have been past of a cluster in Capricorn will enter futuristic Aquarius. The catch: each will first encounter powermonger Pluto, likely triggering a lot of action. Expect more dramatic world events involving groups of people wishing to gain more power over their own destiny and for many secrets to be revealed along the way.
On Monday, Venus conjoins Pluto, god of transformation, which could mean upheaval in relationships, personal and professional, and finances. on the positive side, it is a good time to negotiate important changes in relationships, alliances, and financial matters. The key is unflinching honesty about deeper needs. And, with Pluto in Aquarius, looking to the bigger picture and greater good.
Fortunately, we’re also under the beams of a Sun-Neptune sextile. This aspect can help us reconcile our compassionate, spiritual side with the other half that must deal with the real, often harsh world. And to know they need not be mutually exclusive. As well, industrious Mars trines Uranus and sextiles Saturn, harmonious and productive aspects that help us to put the hammer down to get things down while exerting willpower wisely.
A significant day! Plus, come evening, the Sun enters Aquarius, where it will stay until February 18. A collective shift occurs, out of the Capricorn focus on responsibility, status quo and mastery through discipline. Next us: Aquarian concerns which is all about the collective good and an innovative approach to life.
On Tuesday, intuition and imagination are heightened, thanks to a sextile between Mercury and Neptune. This aspect brings an increased capacity for inner vision and creative thought, and may lead to meaningful insights regarding our spiritual path, offering a deeper understanding and clearer sense of direction. Shortly after this aspect is exact the winged messenger transitions into Aquarius, where it will remain until February 6. During these weeks, there is a notable openness to new perspectives and progressive ideas. The collective mindset is stimulated, encouraging the sharing and exchange of knowledge. This period fosters inventive thinking and a willingness to embrace innovative concepts.
On Wednesday, January 21, a conjunction of the Sun and Mercury places a strong focus on communication and our ability to absorb and process new information. This astrological aspect suggests that our minds are especially active, making it an ideal time for engaging in discussions, sharing ideas, and seeking out new knowledge. Keep in mind, though, that both will soon bump into Pluto—Mercury on Thursday, the Sun on Friday. So the energy surrounding communication becomes even more potent. Conversations during this period are likely to be particularly intense, marked by a desire to explore topics deeply and uncover hidden truths. This alignment encourages thoughtful dialogue and may lead to transformative insights.
On Friday, as the Sun forms a conjunction with Pluto, people are likely to exhibit intense willpower and determination. This alignment amplifies inner strength and the drive to pursue goals with unwavering focus.
As well, Mars enters the sign of Aquarius. Until March 2, we all can expect a strong urge to act independently and to pursue freedom without limitations. During this time, individuals may display more rebellious tendencies, and their actions and behaviours could become unpredictable, even erratic. Since Aquarius is also known as a social sign, there is an increased likelihood of being motivated to take collective action or to collaborate with a group of like-minded people.
After an action-packed week, the weekend scenario is free of major planetary aspects. The Moon is in Aries on Saturday, making it a good day to get out and see and do. Spontaneous actions often work out better under these beams. And with a square to excessive Jupiter late afternoon, we may find ourselves overbooked.
Things should settle down Sunday afternoon once Luna drifts into Taurus, but a succession of challenging aspects make peace hard to find. Forewarned is forearmed, so set some boundaries with folks who might be antagonistic or triggering. Better yet, avoid them altogether and stay in and cocoon for a while, recharging the batteries for the week ahead.
