Dramatic events continue to rock the world, fallout from the January 3 Full Moon, but this week’s aspects give us time to assess, plan our best response and even triumph.

Four planets—the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars--are grouped closely in Capricorn now. They form what astrologers call a stellium, a not-uncommon phenomenon. What’s extraordinary now is that they will remain in close proximity over the next few weeks, traversing the sky in tandem.

Which means that going forward there will be a strong concentration in the goal-oriented and practical sign of Capricorn. We can tap into its reserves of determination and resilience as we take concrete seps towards our goals. As well, we can appreciate the need to be disciplined and strategic, and to be effective managers in both our personal and professional lives. We may find ourselves embracing more ambitious aspirations, too. we may find ourselves wanting to be better organized and have more structure I our lives, but may need reminders to leave room for pleasure and play.

The week begins with the Moon luxuriating in Leo, where it will stay until midday Wednesday, adding some fire-sign exuberance and creative flair. We usually have more desire to express ourselves through word, action and fashion.

On both Monday and Tuesday, we’re under the beams of the Sun’s conjunction with Venus. This alignment marks a period where collaborations and alliances are easier to either establish or reinforce. Genial gatherings are likely as folks come together, drawn by shared ambitions and aspirations. The energy present favours joint efforts, where cooperation is built on a foundation of mutual benefit and aligned interests, laying the groundwork for solid success.

Luna enters conscientious Virgo midday Tuesday, staying until the end of Thursday, January 8. On Wednesday, she forges a series of constructive and convivial alliances with the abovementioned planets in Capricorn. This is an optimal time for attending to the small details involved in achieving larger goals and projects. Mundane tasks bring great satisfaction as long as we don’t let Virgoan perfectionism stall our progress.

Also on Wednesday, Venus aligns with Mars, a conjunction of the primal feminine and masculine, amplifying passionate and expressive feelings. Venus’s gentle nature can temper Mars’s assertiveness, but Mars may also intensify romantic impulses, sometimes leading to impulsive decisions in relationships and finances. While these energies can spark competition and occasional disruption, a quintile to Neptune encourages creativity and helps resolve interpersonal issues, making it easier to connect and appreciate the realms of imagination.

By Friday, the Moon has shifted to Libra, diverting our focus toward connection, beauty and harmony. But starting this day and continuing into the next, the Sun (confidence), Venus (indulgence), and Mars (assertion) all oppose expansive Jupiter. This inflates the tendencies of each in turn, so add “over” to each of the planet’s qualities listed above.

First up, a Sun-Mars conjunction gives mega energy and drive to pursue and achieve personal goals. This alignment intensifies ambition and motivation, making it possible for us to accomplish a great deal. However, this heightened desire with Venus also involved, can lead to impulsive actions, especially on the romantic or financial fronts. To make the most of these transits, it is important to remain disciplined and approach objectives methodically to ensure sustained progress and avoid unnecessary mistakes

Saturday is a critical time, as key players form cardinal grand cross: the Sun and Mars exactly oppose Jupiter and square the Moon in Libra and Chiron in Aries.  This can generate a great deal of tension, and we may see more dramatic developments around us.  As well, the dwarf planet Eris, named for the goddess of discord, is stationing which intensified its agitator energies. Positively, if we mindfully master the energies, extraordinary achievement is possible.

I think moderation and balance are the keys to navigating the weekend, as Jupiter makes us all want to go overboard. Not every connection has to be life-altering; say no to drama and those who generate it, keep it simple and be kind to people who support you. An extra word of caution: I find hard Mars-Jupiter aspects like this one coincide with a lot of accidents, usually due to overconfidence or inattention because one was thinking about lofty issues instead of focusing on the ice patch underfoot. So mind how you go!

On Sunday, the Moon enters deep and emotional Scorpio. It might be best to follow this introspective sign’s lead and pull within, perhaps taking the day to cocoon. And contemplate and process that which occurred previously in the week while recharging your batteries for the next, which promises a lighter, clearing trend.
