This week we enjoy a refreshing respite from long-term chaos and pressure, an easy, breezy time for those willing to see where wafts of intuition will take them.
As I sat down to write this, I thought “this week feels almost normal.” I refer to what used to pass for normal, not what has been called the “new normal.” For the past 2 years plus, it has been a case of looking at the celestial influences with an eye to how do I not only make sense of them but frame it all in a way that will be helpful. Far too often this meant deep consideration and meditation, and sometimes much angst. It was not always thus; as someone who has been a professional astrologer and writing horoscopes for over 30 years for media outlets large and small, I can truly confirm that we live in extraordinary times. I ain’t seen nothin’ like this.
But I digress. All to say this week holds great potential, most of it positive.
Monday dawns in the wake of the previous day’s complicated and tense Full Moon in Sagittarius, the sign of acquired wisdom and inner truth. This lunation was all about expanding awareness, of giving personal vision a wider voice and context. We may have clarified an important issue and/or perceived a new, improved version of ourselves. Now that the dust has settled, what now?
At 7:56 am EDT on June 1, Mercury leaves Gemini in the rearview mirror and enters Cancer, where it will remain until August 9, 2026. In astrology, the winged messenger planet represents the mind, the cognitive structures that help us make sense of it all. In Cancer, thinking becomes highly subjective and infused with emotion, immersed in “all the feels” as intuition and empathy edge out cold logic. We may find folks more protective of their opinions and ideas, and more defensive when challenged.
Cancer is a consummate introvert that clings to the past. We may find out thoughts reaching back, favouring those that remind us of belonging, safety and tenderness. This is an optimal time to have important family conversations and get your house in order, metaphorically and not so. The downside is that we may find old baggage cluttering the carousel of our communications. Or use guilt trips to get what we want, or have that tactic turned on us.
On Tuesday, the Moon is in the practical, goal-oriented sign of Capricorn. Giving a big assist is the Sun in Gemini forming a sextile with Saturn, the planet associated with the lunar sign. This brings a steady, grounding influence that helps us slow down, think clearly, and act and think with in a mature, responsible way while still adding individual flair. In relationships, a Venus semisquare Uranus aspect stirs a restless need for freedom, making it easy for small misunderstandings to flare if anyone feels crowded or emotionally cornered. Give your connections a little breathing room today and resist the urge to take it personally when others demand same.
Wednesday, June 3, sees Mercury trine the North Node and squaring Neptune, making for a day where insight seems to arrive through subtle signals and quiet realizations. Casual conversations may reveal more than what is said out loud. We may find it easier to pick up on unspoken dynamics, or feel guided toward the words, ideas, and people that matter most in the now. Mercury’s trine to the North Node can download meaningful messages about our destiny. At the same time, Mercury square Neptune can blur the line between intuition and projection, making it important to pause before accepting every feeling, assumption, or impression as fact. This energy is best used for reflection, creative thinking, heartfelt dialogue, and listening closely while maintaining discernment.
On the next day, Thursday, Mercury moves on to form an uncomfortable quincunx to powermonger Pluto. Communication may feel intense, with even simple conversations becoming loaded. Words carry more weight than expected and reactions landing faster than reason. Moderation is called for, so avoid defensiveness, sharp replies, or an urge to push a point too strongly. This energy also can bring powerful insights. As well, the Sun semisquare Chiron adds another layer of sensitivity, making it easier to feel overlooked, misunderstood, or unsure of whether your voice is truly reaching others.
Friday kicks off an astrological long weekend, that is, three full days free of major planetary aspects, a rarity of late. This makes them blanks slates for us to more fully enjoy the lunar influences.
The Moon moves through Aquarius on Friday and stays for most of Saturday, generating a breezier, highly social vibe. A more detached emotional tone prevails that can help us step back, see the bigger picture, and reconnect with our independence. These are good days for giving yourself space, spending time with friends, exploring fresh ideas, and loosening your grip on situations that do not need to be controlled. Aquarius energy can make feelings easier to observe than fully process, so if something feels uncertain, allow yourself to stay curious rather than forcing an answer too quickly.
On Saturday evening, the Moon slips into Pisces, and the energy softens noticeably. Sensitivity deepens, intuition grows louder, and the pace becomes gentler, inviting rest, reflection, and emotional release. What felt intellectual or distant earlier in the weekend may begin to reveal its deeper emotional layer, making this a beautiful time to slow down, listen inward, and let compassion lead. The weekend begins with perspective and ends with feeling. Sunday's trine between the Moon and Mercury offers clarity and an opportunity to access imagination and intuition, to tap into your inner artist, from which can come revealing insights, even wisdom.
