No settling in for a long winter’s nap this week! A Jupiter shift just before the solstice has us all fired up and looking for places to go, people to see.
The week gets off to an inauspicious start on Monday. A Moon in Scorpio could have us dealing with thorny relationship issues. Venus tussles with both wounding Chiron and biting Mars, creating hurt feelings and a desire to lash out. It might be best to leave important discussions until a later date.
A new day dawns on Tuesday, December 20, as jovial Jupiter shifts back into firebrand Aries. This is its second pass, upping both our optimism and desire to hit the road, literally or metaphorically. We’re also more spontaneous, so last-minute getaway bookings are not out of the questions. And being in the sign of self-interest, we will have less trouble setting boundaries with others or saying no to unwelcome invites!
What we do lack now is patience—with anything or anyone. Especially on the first day, when the Moon in Scorpio makes us ultra-sensitive to slights, real and imagined.
The Sun enters Capricorn at 4:48 pm ET on Wednesday, marking the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. Traditionally, this is a time for quiet contemplation and seeking the light. Not this year! Sol squares larger-than-life Jupiter, upping our urge for wider horizons, inner and outer. A challenging aspect to erratic Uranus could also trigger some impetuous, possibly quite unwise, responses to the urge.
On Thursday, Love goddess Venus makes peace with Uranus, opening our hearts and minds with feelings of goodwill to all.
The very next day, Friday, marks the last New Moon of 2022 at 5:17 am ET. In Capricorn, it is also a potent supermoon, turbocharging Capricorn qualities like ambition and management. We can tick off a lot of items from the year-end to-do list and still find time to make merry.
Also take note that now is the best time to make those New Year’s resolutions. Or if you’re not into them, taking time to think about what you want to achieve in the coming year. And what systems and structures do you need to put into place to realize your goals. Do it now, because by New Years, Mercury will have gone retrograde—good for reflection and revision, but not strategic thinking.
The Moon still in Capricorn on Saturday early on meets with Venus and Mercury to make it a good day to get together with family. Late evening, however, any underlying tensions could erupt as Luna is goaded by suspicious killjoy Pluto. Small problems tend to be blown out of proportion. Sunday dawns with the Moon moving on into gregarious Aquarius. It makes peaceful aspects with other planets all day, making it easier to enjoy feelings of comfort and joy. And with two of the planets being Jupiter and Mars, some outdoor activities like walks to take in holiday light displays or a whirl around the skating rink will feel just right.
Happy holidays!
