We have ignition! Two planets enter fire signs this week, impelling us forward buoyed by new faith and optimism.
On Monday, however, the Moon is in intense and constrained Scorpio, making for a moody day. With Mars still in Cancer, we can find it hard to be assertive and react more emotionally than usual.
Luna gains some allies on Tuesday as it continues through the sign, making a Grand Trine or big triangle aspect with Venus (love, creativity), Mars (passion, action) and Saturn (realization, foundations), all triggered by innovative Uranus. Which makes for a highly productive and creative day, and a profoundly romantic one as well. It is also Mercury’s last day in intuitive Pisces, so a good time to delve into a creative project or mindful pursuit.
On Wednesday, April 16, the winged planet enters Aries for a second time since its recent retrograde. While it backtracked through the firebrand sign from March 15 to 29, it sparked feelings of being thwarted or misunderstood. Now in direct motion, Mercury stays in this sign until May 10, casting aside any ambiguity and going for quick solutions. The lag time between idea and action shrinks, impatience with slow-thinking types grows. Assertion and shooting from the lip feel good now, but we might have to remind ourselves that words can wound. Conjunct Neptune for this day only, our thoughts and communications can be truly inspired.
Thursday finds the Moon in optimistic and gregarious Sagittarius, just as Jupiter is making a quirky sesquiquadrate aspect to Pluto. We may feel that “nothing succeeds like excess,” taking on too many tasks and overestimating our abilities, especially when it comes to controlling the outcome. Power and restricted freedom will be touchy subjects.
Fueling our desires is Mars, which enters the fire sign of Leo in the wee hours of Friday, EDT, where it will remain until June 17. That gives us two months to radiate greater self confidence and take steps towards starring in the drama of our own life. We’re more likely to wear our passions on our sleeves, too, and to exaggerate for theatrical effect. During this two-month period, self-confidence is heightened, and passion drives our actions. Creative and heart-centred people will be positively energized. The downside: people in authority who take a dictatorial approach may exaggerate.
On Saturday, the Sun enters Taurus, so until May 20 we get a chance to stop and smell the roses and reconnect with Mother Earth. This sign brings us back to our senses—literally, as it is arguably the most stable and sensible sign going. And also is all about the physical senses and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Appreciating beauty ranks high on the agenda during this time, as does creating more comfort in our surroundings.
On the same day, Mars in Leo makes a harmonious trine aspect to Neptune, newly in Aries. If ever there were a day to realize what enlightened selfishness means, this is it. We may experience what it feels like to be assertive and get what’s ours while doing no harm or even caring for the collective.
The Bull also has a rep for being stubborn and inflexible, which ramps up on Sunday as it clashes with feisty Mars. A clash of wills is almost inevitable, as everyone seems to “right fight” and not want to make any concessions out of pride or ego. The usual advice: find positive outlets for releasing the tension. Right on cue, love goddess Venus makes nice with expect-the-unexpected Uranus. If we’re open to new experiences, exciting things can happen in a new or existing relationship. Ditto for any creative projects.
