Spring has sprung—or will very soon with energizing Mars on the move.
Aries season is in (almost) full swing as the Sun makes its annual journey through the energetic fire sign. It typically gets us fired up with a fresh burst of “can do” spirit, of approaching life with more zest, courage, spontaneity and, yes, impatience. Right now, it is somewhat hampered by deliberate Saturn, nebulous Neptune and wounded healer Chiron, all in the same sign.
Saturn’s presence can help us be more intentional with how we direct our newfound energy—but Neptune diffuses and confuses. As the ruler of Aries, Mars plays a key role. And it’s just winding up a six-week stretch in Pisces, a sign that prefers to dream and drift rather than initiate or implement. On the positive side we’ve had a chance to be more mindful in our actions, if we chose to do so. Others may have felt disoriented or unsure of how to act.
On Monday and Tuesday, the Moon is in optimistic Sagittarius, forging mostly helpful alliances with other planets. This gives a boost of positive and possibly exuberant energy that can help previously stalled projects move ahead.
Wednesday sees Luna moving into industrious and serious Capricorn. With a Mars-Uranus sextile the same day, we may find a sense of being bombarded by rapid change and excess is intensified. Expect a surge of restless energy, a positive outlet for which might be moving our bodies through physical activity. We also thrive when we break from routine, take calculated risks, and try new activities. It is an ideal time to experiment with something different, as the urge for novelty is heightened.
On Thursday, April 9, a radical shifting of gears into high occurs as Mars zooms into its home sign of Aries. Suddenly, the urge to initiate, create and push forward get revved up. We’re able to make a move with greater speed and clarity. But with this much fire, it’s important to not burn out of control. Tempers can flare, assertion be exaggerated or misdirected. We may load up our plates in a mad attempt to make up for (perceived) lost time. Easy does it and take time for grounding exercises.
As well, Mars moving into Aries this Thursday will trigger the energy of the earlier Saturn-Neptune conjunction. This pivotal, history-shaping alignment has planted the seeds of transformation when it comes to governments, systems and societies in ways we can now only begin to understand.
Alongside the global shifts brought on by the Saturn-Neptune meetup, each of us is navigating this energy in our own lives. For some, it’s all about major endings and new beginnings. If you’ve got natal planets or points in the first few degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, you’re likely feeling these changes more intensely than most.
On April 10th, the last quarter moon in Capricorn brings a practical reality check. Such lunations favour reflection and adjustment: it’s an ideal time to ponder what’s working and what’s not, and what we could let go of. With all the Aries energy around, we might be feeling a big scattered. This is our chance to focus, get organized, and make sure we’re investing your energy where it counts. Not everything needs chasing—choose what matters and build steadily.
The Moon resides in futuristic Aquarius for the weekend. It might be a good time to catch up on coverage of Artemis 2, the first crewed flight to venture beyond low Earth orbit since 1972. We may wish to seek out like-minded people to discuss loft, even “out there” subjects. Getting together with friends is also favoured, and the bigger and more spontaneous the gathering the better.
On Sunday, we’ll feel the effects of martial Mars merging with enigmatic Neptune, an aspect exact in the wee hours of the next day. Regulating anger or assertiveness will require greater awareness, making an effort to ensure that our actions are guided by our highest morals and ideals. Taking shortcuts or acting without integrity is to be avoided. There is a risk of feeling exploited or taken for granted. If you find yourself trying to assist someone during this time, be mindful that your efforts might not be fully appreciated. It may be wise to reserve your generosity for another occasion, protecting your own emotional resources and maintaining healthy boundaries.
