Eclipse fallout, a Mars shift—an intense week lies ahead with an all-clear sounded on the weekend.
Monday marks the fall equinox when day and night get equal time. Usually a time to pause and catch our balance. And perhaps celebrate, since it also marks the first day of the Sun’s sojourn in peace-and-beauty-loving Libra. The Moon joins in that sign as well.
But as with so many times this year, it’s different and more intense. The previous day, the New Moon solar eclipse in Virgo (the final eclipse of 2025) occurred at 29 degrees of Virgo. (see more about it in last week’s post, or in yesterday’s mailing if you’re on my list).
Its shadows still linger, and we have until the Aries full moon on October 6th to figure out its true significance, to gain the clarity and empowerment it promises. This is an important planting time for later germination. Pay attention to any synchronicities you note.
Also on September 22nd, Mars enters Scorpio, one of the signs it rules—which adds to its potency. The red planet is all about action and assertion/aggression, and in this sign the tone for the next six weeks is laser-focused transformation. Mars in Scorpio penetrates beyond appearances to relentlessly seek the truth. It is also about radical courage; in its highest for it’s the one who with absolute integrity can stand up to a boss or abusive partner, speak up against corporate corruption or greed, expose wrongdoing, etc. On the shadow side, it is about acting vengefully towards those we feel have wronged us rather than take responsibility for our own actions.
On Monday and Tuesday, the red planet lies at the apex of a challenging yod configuration with erratic Uranus and nebulous Neptune. A yod is formed when one planet is quincunx (150 degrees away from) two other planets that sextile each other. The elongated triangle formed is also called “The Finger of God” and is said to have a fated quality.
With Mars at the apex of this yod, it has the power position—but it is trying to come to terms with planets aligned in a way not favourable to compromise. In Scorpio, the planet is easily triggered by slights or perceived attacks, real or imagined. It also has a deep desire for control. The Uranus-Neptune sextile can bring heightened intuition and insight. The best use of this energy might be to only take steps that put us on the high road, to act from spiritual ideals.
On Wednesday, might-makes-right Mars squares off with powermonger Pluto as well. Suffice to say the first half of this week will bring heightened emotional responses! The clash between the Planet of War and the Planet of Transformation inevitably brings friction. This particular aspect involves the two bullies of the zodiac. We may encounter people who very much need to be in control and to assert their will over others. Power struggles may now intensify.
This aspect is also good for revealing that which has been hidden, often in a dramatic way. With what’s going on in the world right now, this transit can help us cut through the gaslighting. With Pluto in power-to-the-people Aquarius, those in charge who are indulging in subversive or secret activities may find their hand is forced. Within ourselves, we may find strong emotions erupting; if so, it’s important to deal with and transform them.
The Moon is in Scorpio as well from early Wednesday to midday on Friday. This fans the flames on Wednesday, but on Thursday things ease considerably. By evening, Luna forms a positive alliance with Jupiter in Cancer. There can be much emotional good vibes and even healing.
On Friday, the Moon enters freewheeling, happy-go-lucky Sagittarius in the evening, staying in the sign through the weekend. We’re more than willing to shelve any drama and strife, and let the good times roll. Spontaneous get-togethers are especially favoured.
On Saturday, though, we may find it hard to cross anything off the to-do list. With Mercury in sesquiquadrate aspect to Uranus, “monkey brain” is in overdrive and we may have trouble focusing on the task at hand.
Sunday looks like the best day to rest and recuperate, to create a garden of peace amidst tension and turbulence. Once centered, it’s easier to act with intention and from the heart. And, since it also Libra season for the next 4 weeks, remember that beauty, justice and grace still exist.
