The week ahead holds a deep dive into desire, a call for discernment, and a New Moon in Libra reset.

We enter the first full week of Venus retrograde in Scorpio. We may switch out the rose-coloured glasses for something on the dark side when it comes to love and friendship, plus other areas associated with the sign like money and self-worth, beauty and creativity. Our attention is drawn to unfinished business lurking below the surface. We might also want to go deep below appearances, especially when it comes to relationships. Scorpio is also a sign of extremes; it’s either “you are my soul mate, and we are bonded forever” or “you are dead to me.”

The sign often lacks objectivity, too, which adds to emotional volatility in the atmosphere now. The retrograde continues into mid-November, so there is no need to force a verdict. It’s best, I find, to treat what returns now—an old attraction, aesthetic, resentment, expense, or creative obsession—as information. Observe the pattern before deciding whether it deserves revival, revision, or release.

On Monday, the Moon moves through Leo and clashes with the concentration of Scorpio energy, pride and vulnerability can become difficult to separate. Jealousy, control issues, or a need for recognition may flare quickly, especially where affection and loyalty already feel complicated. Resist the urge to perform certainty. Staying in your own lane is not avoidance; it is a way to keep charged feelings from becoming unnecessary theatre.

The same configuration can be intensely generative. Leo wants expression, while Scorpio wants truth, making this fertile territory for work that is personal, daring, and emotionally honest. If a former passion, abandoned project, or forgotten visual language calls you back, follow the thread without assuming you must reproduce the past exactly.

The positive effects will be most present on Tuesday, October 9, as the Moon makes a positive alliance with Jupiter.  As well, communicator Mercury, also in Scorpio, will conjunct retrograde Venus. Now is a good time to express any recent revelations, if not in words than through an art form. Conversations can be deep and meaningful, and clarity can be gained. But because emotions run high now, it’s best to not rush to judgement or commitment. Impulsive decisions may feel good in the moment but not be viable long term.

The focus shifts to practical medicine midweek, as the Moon enters Virgo, offering a useful remedy to any excess emotional intensity. Practical tasks may feel unexpectedly restorative: which makes it a good time to organize the schedule, reconcile the numbers, edit the draft, clear the desk, and attend to the body. Virgo reminds us that insight does not always arrive through dramatic catharsis. Sometimes order creates enough quiet for the deeper answer to become audible.

Wednesday and Thursday will be particularly productive as a Mars–Uranus sextile electrifies just enough frictionless momentum to make experimentation possible and instinctive rather than reckless. Mars supplies the nerve to act, while Uranus disrupts stale patterns and opens a channel for improvisation. Favoured now are bold creative choices, spontaneous pleasure, and clean breaks from expectations that have become too confining. Follow the impulse that feels enlivening and liberating—but give it a workable outlet, so a flash of rebellion becomes meaningful movement rather than change for its own sake.

On Friday, the Moon enter harmony-seeking Libra, preparing for the big event the next day.  Just before a New Moon is often low energy; fortunately, the night orb makes favourable alliances as it progresses today.  But a Mercury–Saturn quincunx is also in force, creating a subtle but persistent mismatch between the mind’s need to clarify and Saturn’s insistence on limits, proof, and restraint. Conversations may stall under the weight of skepticism, gatekeeping, or poorly timed seriousness, while attempts to uncover the facts can expose where language, expectations, or authority structures are out of alignment. Rather than forcing an answer, it’s best to make mindful adjustments: refine the question, check the assumptions beneath it, and allow incomplete information to reveal which part of the message still needs greater precision or maturity.

The week culminates with the New Moon at 17°22′ Libra on October 10 at 11:50 am EDT.  Every year, such lunations open a relational reset; reciprocity, agreements, and the delicate calibration between autonomy and partnership top the agenda. Whether the terrain is romantic, professional, or legal, this lunation asks where diplomacy has become self-abandonment—and where an overemphasis on independence has made genuine collaboration impossible. With Venus, Libra’s ruler, retrograde in Scorpio, the new beginning is inseparable from a deeper review of trust, attachment, shared power, and the unspoken values shaping our bonds.

Now, it occurs just past an opposition from Saturn in Aries, which brings weight, consequence, and a sharpened awareness of delay. Saturn may have exposed any structural weakness in a contract, boundary, or relationship pattern, especially where fairness has been promised but not embodied. In the fallout, progress could feel slow, yet the purpose is not simple obstruction: this aspect demands mature terms, personal accountability, and commitments strong enough to withstand reality once the Moon begins to wax.

Uranus, in a disruptive sesquiquadrate to the New Moon, introduces the wildcard. News, reversals, or sudden shifts in another person’s position may destabilize the careful equilibrium Libra prefers, while the Venus–Mars square raises the temperature around desire, timing, and competing agendas. Rather than forcing harmony, treat friction as diagnostic: it can reveal which compromises are viable, which resentments have gone underground, and which relational scripts are overdue for revision.

On a very positive note, a buoyant sextile to Jupiter keeps hope alive and ready to make some noise. In confident Leo, this aspect injects perspective, constructive dialogue, and the possibility that any disruption or constraint may redirect us toward a more sustainable option. We can bolster the positivity by setting intentions around mutual respect, emotional honesty, and equitable exchange. We might also include the balance between self-definition and cooperation—but leave room for the terms to evolve.

Those with natal planets or angles near 16°–18° of the cardinal signs may experience the lunation most directly, while placements near 7° of the fixed signs may register the Venus retrograde story as an equally important undertow.

On Sunday, we all will feel the need to withdraw and process the complexity of the previous day’s lunation. The Moon enters Scorpio, further deepening feelings, turning our attention toward intuition, hidden truths, and close connections.

It’s a good time to set intentions around things like mutual respect, emotional candour, and boundaries, with an eye to arriving at a more honest and viable balance between independence and partnership. Leave room for revision: with Venus retrograde, the clearest answer may emerge through a second conversation or a changed preference rather than a decisive first move. The week’s central question is not whether you can keep the peace, but whether the peace you are creating has enough truth in it to last.
