As the planets align this week, we’re more than willing to, as John Lennon had it, “give peace a chance,” on the world stage and in our own hearts and minds.

On Monday, Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and “let’s all live in perfect harmony,” enters Libra. Every year, its sojourn in that sign creates three-week or so period in which a much lighter atmosphere prevails, conducive to connecting and creating, and enjoying the finer things in life. But it makes a very special debut now.

Five hours after Venus’ shift, Pluto, the planet of transformation, obsession, and revolution, emerges from its five-month retrograde. Now in revolutionary Aquarius, it forms a harmonious trine to innovative Uranus in Gemini. And both of these planets trine Venus, making what is known as a grand trine, or big triangle, in the sky.  All are in air signs (Libra, Aquarius, Gemini), favouring new agreements and détente. May it be so for the current cease fire in the Middle East.

Adding an extra dimension to this configuration is that Venus in Libra (cooperation, negotiation, balancing) also opposes Neptune in Aries (sign of initiative, self-interest, domination). The grand trine creates a flow of energy related to thought, communication and intellect. The opposition forms a kite, adding a focal point to the grand trine and more dynamism to the outflow of energy. In all, this week can be a powerful period for creativity and for setting new goals, especially those that require new communication or a shift in perspective.

On Tuesday, the Moon sashays into diva Leo, where it remains until early Thursday morning. It opposes Pluto in Aquarius as the workday commences, which could mean we wake to some drama, like people jockeying for power in a public way. Pride and ego may be at odds with the collective’s perceptions. A Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune aspect also brings confusion about what actions to take to get what we need.

Wednesday, October 15, could bring more upheaval, as Luna squares off with combative, feisty Mars. However, it’s also a good day to get a lot done.

On Thursday afternoon, the Moon strides into Virgo, a sign that gets on much better with Mars, now in Scorpio. This brings a stabilizing influence that’s also highly productive. Plus, the Sun now squares Jupiter, an ebullient aspect that buoys optimism and brings joy. The downside: it can also indicate a tendency to overestimate our abiliites. And with Mercury forming a sesquiquadrate to Neptune, our thinking may be clouded with miscommunications confusing the issue.

The Moon in industrious Virgo makes pleasant aspects on Friday, helping to close the workweek on a positive and productive note. This helps counteract the Sun opposite Chiron aspect, which some may find brings a sense of unease as old insecurities and fears arise.

Saturday morning looks best for getting out and about. Scheduling lunch or brunch dates could be highly enjoyable. By evening, a Moon-Saturn opposition pus a damper on our mood and any social obligations. Early Sunday am, though, Luna moves into gracious and gregarious Libra.

Also on Sunday, a Mercury-Mars conjunction perfects in the wee hours of the next morning. In the insightful sign of Scorpio, it will help us play detective, wanting to see beneath the façade of appearances to the truth of any matter. The Sun quincunx Saturn could bring self-doubt and insecurity when it comes to setting boundaries.

But the Mercury-Mars conjunction also makes harmonious aspects to the lunar nodes. We have an invitation to see the bigger picture, and to align our words and actions with our soul or purpose. We can reconnect with faith and compassion, and reclaim our trust in positive outcomes for ourselves and all humanity.
