Settling down to a dull roar? Last week saw many planetary players shifting signs or direction, making it hard to keep up or make progress. This week contains a potent retrograde but also signs of hope and a chance to glimpse a more optimistic future.
The week begins with the Moon in Cancer making superb alliances with most of the outer planets. It’s a wonderful time for connecting and community, with some inspired thinking thrown into the mix. A shift occurs midday as Luna moves into Leo and immediately encounters Pluto. We may find ourselves tangling with someone in authority but it quickly passes. Couples will find passions running high come evening.
On Tuesday, gentle giant Jupiter, which has been moving slowly for a while, preparing to retrograde, which will last until February 2026. During the slowdown phase, a planet is said to be stationing, and its influence is magnified. Jupiter is currently in its glory sign, nurturing, empathetic Cancer. Just this past weekend, some young people set up in a park across the street from my home and were giving away free food (Cancer is very much about feeding the body, too). You may find yourself and those around you are more conscious of those who need comfort and might go out of your way to show you care.
More good news: Jupiter (optimism, expansion) is almost exactly trine Saturn (solidifying, making real) in ultra-compassionate Pisces this week. This lovely and harmonious aspect helps bringing our ideals into reality and capitalize on opportunities that arise to create lasting change. The key to long-term growth is an intelligent balance of optimism and caution.
Even better, this aspect reaches maximum strength on November 17, But the two giants will continue to travel within two degrees of each other until December 15.
On Wednesday, November 12, Mercury and Mars will conjoin at 6 degrees of Sagittarius. This is part of Mercury’s retrograde that started on November 9, in effect until the 29th. Mercury’s retrograde will start at 6 Sagittarius, with Mercury moving in reverse all the way back to 20 Scorpio.
Mercury conjunct Mars in this restless fire sign is troublesome for Mercury, getting it all riled up and, thanks to the retrograde, with no particular place to go. the result for most of us is scattered, chaotic mental energy. Mars can prompt us to shoot from the lip and ask questions later. Or to be brutally honest. The trouble is with the retrograde, the arrows can miss their targets.
We may find ourselves having big ideas or being drawn to studies that expand our mids. But like all Mercury retrograde periods, it’s not a good time to make important decisions or moves. In all, this is a good time for all of us to get clear about what is making us impatient or thwarted. But rather than acting right away, bookmark it for later decision-making.
We may all need to be more mindful of our mental health this week. Sagittarius loves nature, so seeking solace there might be centering. It is also a seeker, so more time in meditation or yoga might be called for.
On Thursday, the Moon moves into sensible Virgo. Under this industrious sign, we may find ourselves making good inroads into the stack of work or chores. A sweet sextile with love goddess Venus midday could lead to some pleasant lunch dates with romantic undertones.
The relationship scenario could be in for a reality check on Friday, though as Venus forms an uncomfortable sesquiquadrate with killjoy Saturn. It’s hard to reconcile a desire for romance with reality under this aspect. Unrealistic attitudes about finances or values might also need adjustment.
The Moon shines in Libra for the weekend, putting the spotlight on relating, creating and socializing. Go forth and enjoy! In the background, a Sun quincunx Chiron aspect may bring out some insecurities about self-worth.
On Sunday, the only major aspect is the Sun in Scorpio forming a harmonious trine with Jupiter in Cancer. We could see the full flowering in our hearts of the above positive Jupiter in Cancer qualities, deep compassion and connecting with fellow humans and spirit in a way that uplifts.
We’re still in Scorpio season, after all, a time for pulling inward. We might be wise to remember to take time for reflection, acknowledge how far we’ve come. And under the positive vibes, set intentions for our future trajectory. One symbol for this sign is the phoenix, and perhaps this is the time we begin to rise.
