A post-Full Moon sigh of relief leads to a breath of fresh air and a chance to get back to basics as we revel in the simple pleasures of Taurus season.
Uranus continues to wend its way through Gemini, sparking curiosity and new ideas. Sometimes this leads to mental agitation and burnout. And there could be deep emotional undercurrents, thanks to Pluto’s impending retrograde. But Mercury, planet of thinking, is in Taurus, helping us to slow down and focus on what’s really important and sustainable.
We begin the week with the Moon in active and wide-ranging Sagittarius. It forms a flowing trine with Mars late in the day, creating a can-do spirit. Fully realizing our actions might meet with a challenge, as Mars now squares Jupiter: now in Aries, the red planet is fired up, impatient and impulsive. Which chafes against Jupiter in Cancer’s defensiveness and tendency to overreact. Jupiter usually exaggerates so we may tend to act quickly without fully considering consequences. As well, a Venus semisquare Chiron aspect may bring insecurities to the forefront, particularly within relationships.
On Tuesday, mental Mercury forms a square with probing Pluto. This aspect often brings out suspicious thinking and a strong resistance to accepting new ideas. Which may set the stage for power struggles and communication breakdowns. Because Pluto is now in high-minded Aquarius, our principles and beliefs might be the sticking point. If we make an effort, though, we can find common ground with others. A sextile between Mercury and the north node in Pisces helps us to come from a place of compassion and tolerance.
Speaking of Pluto, on Wednesday, May 6, the planet of transformation begins its five-month retrograde. In Aquarius, this powerhouse orb is all about the collective, and we may notice a subtle shift away from external, dramatic changes to internal, deeper reflection. We will have time, until October, to process the rapid technological and social change Pluto in Aquarius has helped intensify. As well we may be reassessing power dynamics, how we may have relinquished it or allowed its misuse in f friendships and groups.
On Thursday, Neptune (spirituality, illusion, imagination) conjoins Pallas Athena in the pioneering sign of Aries. The asteroid lends the gifts of strategy, wisdom and pattern recognition. This aspect enables the merging of creative intuition with dynamic and strategic action. Creative problem solving and artistic innovations are also favoured.
We may wish to get an early start on a relaxing weekend this Friday. The Sun then forms a semisquare with Neptune, which generates a sense of uncertainty or confusion. While our true desires and values are clouded, its challenging to clearly identify what we really want. It does favour artistic or spiritual endeavours or daydreaming along a garden path. It’s best to leave practical matters and concrete decisions for another day.
Gather the gang, for the Moon is in gregarious Aquarius for most of the weekend. This is an excellent time to surround ourselves with like-minded people, the more the better. For most of it, we’ll be under the beams of the Sun sextile Jupiter, too, which encourages a positive outlook and reinforces our faith in something larger than ourselves. This alignment propagates hopefulness and a sense of optimism, helping us to trust in the greater good and maintain a forward-thinking attitude.
The good vibes continue on Sunday, Mother’s Day in North America. However, Venus sesquiquadrates Pluto, which can stir the pot in relationships unless we remain mindful. It’s best to keep celebrations and interactions on the light side, lest underlying issues of trust create tension and challenge the harmony of a potentially enjoyable period.
