Get ready to roar as the Sun enters the sign of the Lion, swiftly followed by an galvanizing and illuminating New Moon.

The week gets underway with the Moon in chatty Gemini. Communications may hit some turbulence, as it triggers the square aspect between Venus and Mars that perfects on Wednesday. This aspect invariably signals tension and conflict in relationships, with cooperation hard to come by. Venus is in blithe-butterfly Gemini, a sign that’s big on improvisation. Mars is in scheduled, perfectionist Virgo. All to say people may be especially pushy and critical. With both signs ruled by Mercury, this is a potent reminder of the importance of communication in all relationships. And this time, we might get it right.

Tuesday marks the Sun’s magisterial progression into the regal sign of Leo. This is our invitation to stand centre stage and embrace the fullness of our own existence. The energy now is not for shrinking or apologizing; it’s for stepping forward, heart unguarded, to declare your intentions to the universe. The Lion’s sign asks us to be bold, to be real, to be unapologetically ourselves in the pursuit of what we want to create, be it in your life, your art, your relationships, wherever.  Leo’s fire urges you to let your true self blaze forth.

On this first day and carrying into the next, Sol makes a helpful sextile aspect to Uranus. We can more easily move away from outmoded routines and entertain fresh perspectives, trusting our intuition as it points toward a future that feels both exciting and uncertain.

On Thursday, July 24, at 3:11 pm EDT the Sun and Moon align at 02 degrees of Leo.  It’s a sign known drama—and this lunation delivers! For standing implacably opposite the Sun is powermonger Pluto. Ordinarily this alienating aspect would bring out the shadow side of Leo: the need to dominate and create needless drama to gain attention, displaying arrogance and insensitivity.

Yet into the New Moon weft is woven threads of harmony and possibility, supportive aspects from Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. The form an important support net: A flowing trine to Saturn will enable us keep one foot on the ground and focus our intentions. Another trine, this time to Neptune, will connect us with our highest most compassionate selves, while enhancing intuition and creativity.  A sextile to Uranus urges us think outside the box and express ourselves authentically, and perhaps take a creative risk or two.

These harmonious connections serve as celestial supports, helping to bring out Leo’s most luminous traits. Such as expressing its famous creativity and generosity without reservation, or standing tall with courage and confidence. We might also radiate Sun King-like qualities that inspire others by example rather than command. The need to dominate can transforms into an invitation to uplift, while the impulse to overdramatize softens into authentic self-expression.

The Moon continues to luxuriate in Leo on Friday, only making one aspect, a conjunction of Mercury, still retrograde the same sign. We’re able to assess and communicate some of the intense energies of the day before. It’s a good day for relating or creativity, too, or just enjoying life.

Luna resides in conscientious Virgo for the weekend. We may wish to catch up on the chores backlog. Or work on the health routine or other things we’ve let slide. With Mercury retrograde in Leo, it’s also a good time to look back and reflect on your life and the many joys and gifts.  And to perhaps look ahead to a brighter future, though it’s best to wait until the winged messenger goes direct mid-August.

The Sunday agenda is an open book. But with the Moon making a positive aspect to Jupiter in homebody Cancer, we may find that the bosom of our family the most sweetly comforting and enjoyable place to be.
