Weekly Horoscope: January 20 - 26, 2020

The week gets off to a heady start with the Sun shifting into intellectual Aquarius in the leadup to an innovative and energizing New Moon in that sign.

On Monday, January 20, Sol makes an annual stay in the sign of the Water Bearer. It is also sandwiched between the solar system’s two big players—a slew of planets in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces—and so an intermediary between Capricorn’s earthly concerns and Neptune’s more emotional and spiritual ones.

One of Aquarius’ gifts is the ability to detach and let cerebral brilliance shine to find solutions. the next four-week period is a good time to let our “what ifs” take us where before we previously never thought to venture.

And to find a way to be part of the (new) gang without losing our individuality. New ideas and group affiliations (especially virtual) can help us push our boundaries and explore concepts and connections that will expand our universe.

These impulses could get out of hand midweek, as the Sun begins to come into conflict with Uranus, culminating in the wee hours of Thursday. We’re primed for innovation, even revolution, but it meets with implacable resistance. Which leads to frustration and impatience.

Outside forces could be in play, like workplace norms and mores that are too old-school for our new thinking. But we may also need to examine our own habit patterns and use the pattern to blast us out of unproductive ruts.

An Aha! moment could come on Friday, January 24, with the Aquarius New Moon, exact at 4:42 pm. Expect the unexpected and prepare to jettison the old and embrace the new. It kicks off a turbulent cycle, and it’s hard to get any clarity while caught up in the whirlwind. But we can find shelter in the aforementioned Aquarian detachment.

All New Moons present an opportunity to plant the seeds for the growth we want to see sprout in the coming month. This New Moon is optimal for getting your vision off the board and begin to build realtime structures to make them happen.

Saturday, January 25, ushers in the Year of the Rat in the Chinese zodiac.this critter has better pr in Asia, apparently, as it is known for being perceptive yet subtle, flexible, lively and good-humored. It also is a good day to not just shoot the breeze, but actually walk the talk. Mental Mercury in sociable and social-conscious Aquarius makes a productive and convivial sextile to Mars in Sagittarius. Some social activism might be in the mix, too.

A jarring Venus-Mars square rocks the love boat on Sunday, January 26. Venus is in Pisces, the optimal placement for dreamy-eyed romantics and anyone wanting more compassion and easy relating in their lives. But it does tend to bring a tendency to see only the best. Mars in Sagittarius, on the other hand, shoots barbed arrows of truth.

Don’t stir the pot in any lover’s quarrel lest it boil over. Pisces’ passive-aggressive or avoidance approach won’t work, and neither will Sag’s “tell it like it is and damn the consequences” way. It could be one of those times we must simply agree to disagree and try harder for compromise.
