We careen into the holiday homestretch, the merry sleigh ride propelled by the major energetic shift initiated yesterday, December 21, with the solstice and official start to Capricorn season. It’s a threshold time, one in which the light returns, becoming stronger every day. Until then, the dark dominates, indicating a more inward-looking time in which we seek comfort and rest, punctuated with lighthearted, festive good times.
At the same time, we’re moving away from Sagittarius’ freedom-seeking, exploratory energy. Now that the sign of the Sea Goat reigns—Mars is also in that sign and Venus soon will join—we’re in for a more focused and serious-minded four weeks. We may dedicate ourselves to a cause, or begin to make New Year’s resolutions now. Capricorn is a sign that loves goals, planning and long-term strategies.
Venus is on the move this week, indicating that relationships of all kinds, personal and professional, top our agendas. Connecting and community will be strong themes.
On Monday, the love goddess forms a quincunx aspect to Uranus, signaling possible disruptions in not only relationships and partnerships but also financial matters. Trouble arises when a desire for increased freedom and autonomy leads to impulsive decisions or unexpected shifts in these areas. We’re restless and impatient with constraints and the status quo, but this aspect calls for adjustment and negotiation.
We also likely will feel the effects of an aspect that perfects on Tuesday. Venus moves on and this time is challenged by a square from nebulous Neptune. This often indicates confusion or disillusionment (Neptune) in the areas Venus rules, relationships, alliances, values or financial matters. We tend to view all these matters through rose-coloured glasses and completely overlook any faults or flaws. Now is not the time to make a big commitment to a person, project or investment.
On Wednesday, December 24, it’s best to stick to superficial and safe topics of conversation at get-togethers. With communicator Mercury semisquare depth-charge Pluto, differences of opinion likely will intensify, often resulting in disputes—especially when the subject involves moral or ethical considerations. There is a strong desire to uncover the underlying truth, which may at times create discomfort, and not just for those involved.
And Venus that day begins to transit through practical, family-first Capricorn. This adds a serious note to holiday festivities, with a focus on low-key and, as this is an earth sign, keeping it real. Going forward, there is a collective shift to prioritize stability and security, particularly in matters relating to partnerships and finances. We’re after stability, security and commitment, and may find ourselves adopting a more focused approach to achieve these goals. The downside: We can sacrifice feeling for practicality, and there could be a decided lack of romance or spontaneity in relationships.
Thursday, Christmas Day, dawns with Moon in soulful, sensitive Pisces. It forms very positive aspects with both the Sun and Mars, helping us to live the true meaning of the holiday, sharing feelings of affection, appreciation and compassion in positive ways. Words are not necessary, as our thoughtful actions speak volumes. A joyful air of celebration helps holiday plans come off without a hitch, a trend that continues to smooth the way on Friday, Boxing Day.
Action is the weekend watchword, as the Moon shifts to impulsive Aries on Saturday. At the same time, mental Mercury forms a quincunx with excessive Jupiter. An overload of optimism could lead to lapses of judgement, so take it easy behind the wheel and on the slopes. Same goes for enticing post-holiday sales, lest we overspend. As well, folks will be especially assertive in sharing opinions and beliefs, and inclined to feeling in the right. all to say it’s a good day to avoid certain people.
The all-clear sounds on Sunday, with the Moon in Aries forming mostly positive aspects with other planets. Since it’s in a sign that likes to initiate, this is a good day to take the reins. We might begin to steer towards a new direction or venture we want to launch in the New Year.
That being said, we are entering the final days of 2025. And we now have many outer planets, which have to do with collective energies, in the final degrees of their signs. Added to that, in numerology this is a 9 year. Both indicators have to do with endings and closure as we prepare for a new cycle. We now have the gift of the solstice pause in which to reflect on what we need to release in order to make the most of the very new and dynamic energies coming out way in 2026. I wish you peace and joy as you do so.
Happy holidays!
