Weekly Horoscope: December 14-20, 2020

Truth or consequences? How about both in a momentous week that kicks off with a total solar eclipse and sees two major planets change sign and gear up for a life-altering convergence!

It’s always darkest before the light, they say. And on Monday, December 14, the annual Sagittarius New Moon’s usual ebullience is obscured by being an eclipse. This is numéro deux in a series of eclipses involving the Sagittarius-Gemini polarity and follows the Gemini lunar eclipse of November 30. This one brings a pause within the pandemic Big Pause and hobbles the sign’s usual wont to roam. It’s a good time to go within and focus on such Sagittarian issues as truth—both our own inner one and the “facts” we are fed from the outside world.

The Gemini-Sagittarius axis has a lot to do with information (Gemini) and beliefs (Sagittarius). Ever notice that the conspiracy theories have grown wilder and numerous? You might decide you need a new and more credible source or filter. Or see the light about how your own beliefs might need to change if you are to thrive in the coming reality.

A breath of fresh air wafts in on Tuesday, as pleasure-seeking Venus waltzes into Sagittarius. With the love goddess planet in this adventurous and gregarious sign until January 8, mustering the holiday spirit will be a snap, even in lockdown. Zoom fatigue will lift as we reach out to people around the globe. And staycations can be as romantic as a trip to Bali.

As if that weren’t enough, in the second half of the week two heavy-hitter planets—status-quo Saturn and boundless Jupiter—exit Capricorn. Saturn is the first to foray into futuristic Aquarius on Thursday, December 17, at 12:04 ET. We got a foretaste of this coupling from March 21 to July 1, 2020. Given Aquarius’ paradoxical rep for being both gregarious and aloof, we all began to socially distance. And to do so because of a virus that is borne on the sign’s element, air. Aquarius also has to do with technology, which began to play a more important part in our lives. And helped to create an important sense of global community, being “all in this together.”

And our sense of adventure and inventiveness around all things Aquarius will get a further boost on Saturday, December 19. Because enthusiastic Jupiter bounds into that sign for the first time since January 2009. It will inject some can-do spirit into the tech sector, which will spill over and be further integrated in everything from medical research to the appliances we use very day. Aquarius also is the sign of astrology and other metaphysical practices.

The two sign changes are a prelude to one of the most important cosmic phenomena of the past 20 years: the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on Monday, December 21, at 1:21 pm ET. It falls on the same day as the winter solstice making it optimal for seeing the light…as in gaining clarity about your future direction and setting intentions.
