This week’s spring chapeau might best be a thinking cap as we head into the first full week of Uranus in Gemini. The side-spinning planet of rebellion and reform previously spent seven years chafing in Taurus, which wanted it to slow down, be stable and endure. Now the impulsive planet of invention is in the ever-curious and improvisational sign of Gemini, a match made in heaven.  That plus Mercury going full-bore forward makes ideas and communications fly. And with Mars having home advantage in Aries, we’re able to lean into the fast pace with confidence building that we can not just survive but thrive.

Beneath the surface, though, emotional intensity is welling as we head closer to a Full Moon, called the Flower Moon, in Scorpio on Friday. It’s important to stay mindful, even midst the rush of events.

On Monday, the Moon is in conscientious Virgo. However, it goes void of course—meaning it makes no major aspects to other planets—early on. This can bring delays and a general feeling of anxiety or lack of progress. Instead of forcing matters, we might take a cue from another aspect also in effect. The Sun in earthy Taurus sextiles the North Node of destiny, encouraging us to find a grounded approach to our spirituality. We may want to spend more time in nature and consciously communing, listening to soul-stirring music, or taking time to feel and express gratitude.

Tuesday sees Luna shifting into relationship-minded Libra, forming helpful alliances with other planets for most of the day.  Just when love-goddess Venus trines Pluto, an aspect that encourages profound connections with others. Deep bonds can be forged as emotional intimacy becomes more accessible and meaningful. With Venus in communicative Gemini, conversations tend to be very revealing—in a good way. Greater honesty and openness help strengthen relationships of all kinds, especially romantic ones.

Wednesday brings a speed bump as militant Mars forms a semisquare to Uranus. This brings a restless energy, we feel unsettled or downright impulsive. Under this influence, we’re more inclined to charge ahead blindly, to take risks without first gathering all the necessary information and assessing the situation, which could result in unexpected consequences. Additionally, sudden or surprising circumstances may arise, requiring a quick change in our plans or daily schedule.

On Friday, May 1, at 1:23 pm EDT the Full Moon occurs at 11 degrees of Scorpio, directly opposing the Sun at the same degree of Taurus. All such lunations are a culmination and illumination, and feelings tend to run high. In Scorpio, the tide turns intensely emotional. Never content to stay on the surface of things, this sign probes the depths of feelings. It charges the atmosphere with passion and emotion, and brings things to light from deep within the psyche.

This is no time to resist Scorpio's intensity. Instead, we might want to feel every feeling more profoundly than usual, and see where it takes us. It’s a powerful time for therapy, journaling or deep reflection, and some of us may experience unexpected insights and revelations.  Scorpio is the sign of transformation, so we also might examine certain patterns or habits with an eye to making meaningful and lasting change.  Releasing any old grudges or secrets can be freeing, too.

The sign of the scorpion is ruled by Mars, now in Aries, and Pluto, now in Aquarius. The Sun and Moon are past squaring the latter, but on a collective level we still may feel a need to rise up and speak up about social injustices. With Mars in an active sign, we can no longer stay on the sidelines.

Amidst the intensity, Venus in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries, an aspect that forms what is known as a yod, with the Moon.  Also called the Finger of God, this aspect is said to have a fated quality; it seems to force our hand. This particular configuration suggests a need to rebalance relationships and finances (Venus) with commitments and responsibilities (Saturn). Occurring with this Full Moon, it might involve a dramatic turning point in a relationship.   The two planets involved also have to do with personal boundaries, so that could be an issue.

The weekend sees a planet shift as Mercury, planet of communication and cognition, settles into Taurus very late on Saturday. Until May 17, there will be a noticeable shift towards practical more deliberate thinking. This steadying influence can help bring us back to basics; we may find it easier to slow down and concentrate on one task at a time.

While Mercury is in the sign of the bull, our minds become more grounded and sensible. We naturally lean on common sense, carefully weighing our options before making decisions. Deliberate thought is easier to come by, a helpful counterpoint to all the more impulsive influences around us. so that choices are made with thorough consideration rather than haste.

On Sunday, the Moon enters freewheeling Sagittarius. After last week’s intensity, we’re in a mood to lighten up and enjoy life! This spontaneous and gregarious sign can prompt us to hold impromptu barbecues or other gatherings. Getting active in the great outdoors also feels right and helps us shake off any stress. Late in the day, we’re optimistic as we get ready for the work week ahead.
