It feels like “hurry up and wait” early this week thanks to Saturn, but trends soon bring a refreshing breath of fresh cosmic air as Uranus shifts into Gemini.
It’s the first full week of Taurus season, that blissful time when we’re invited to slow the pace and take time to smell the daffodils. Previously, a planetary pileup in Aries brought dynamic, fiery energy, making us more spontaneous and impulsive. The Bull is about experiencing life’s simple pleasures. And doing so with all the senses, wanting to savour all the sweetness (often literally. Never met a Taurus who would turn down a chocolate chip cookie). Venus is also in this sign, helping to bring affection and kindness into the mix.
As a counterpoint, action-star Mars is in Aries. So there can be some inner conflict and impatience with a slower pace. On Monday, we’re still feeling the effects of its meetup with Saturn the previous day, and Mercury also will form a conjunction on Tuesday, April 20. The ringed planet is all about duty and responsibility and helps structure our actions and thinking. I find such periods highly productive, if not lighthearted. It’s a good day to rill down on an important plan or project you wish to build for the long term.
Some of us may get a reality check if we’ve been spinning out of control. Consider it a course correction. Impatient types likely will experience some frustration. Feeling physically or mentally drained can also be a side effect, so do take some downtime for self-care.
Saturn's influence subsides by Wednesday, Earth Day. The Moon is in Cancer, the sign associated with home and mothers, including Earth Mother. A square to Mars and Mercury early in the day will prompt many to forcefully, even stridently, voice their concerns with failings in stewardship of our home planet. On other fronts, it is a highly productive day.
Thursday brings the first quarter Moon in Leo. This expressive placement can be lovely when it avoids the ego trap. If we remember to come from the heart rather than seek validation, we can experience a lot of joy. As well, Venus conjuncts Uranus in Taurus for the final time, as the latter will soon change signs. This brings a powerful energy that influences both our relationships and financial matters.
We may feel compelled to walk away from any that are outmoded or feel confining. Or even reform our approach to relationships. Restlessness and a compelling urge for independence prevail, prompting us to seek greater freedom from restrictive circumstances. We are drawn to unconventional people, yet still resist real change.
Just hours later in the wee hours of Friday, Venus leaves the sign of the Bull and enters Gemini. Until May 18, we will be more inclined to play the social butterfly, gaily flitting from different situations and people to the next. Variety and mental stimulation become the attraction, and we may find ourselves able that speak more eloquently and gravitating towards like-minded people.
On Saturday, Uranus follows suit, ending its long sojourn in Taurus, which it won’t visit again for more than 80 years. We had an avant gout of Uranus in Gemini energy last summer, as the planet did a trial run from July to November. Now it’s back and much stronger, promising profound and unprecedented shifts in various aspects of life over the next seven years.
Uranus acts to revolutionize, reinvent, and innovate. Freedom is its clarion call. It moves independently and in quantum leaps, often experienced as disruption, surprise, even shock. Called The Awakener, it can also inspire and electrify. Now it works its magic in Gemini, so we may witness transformations in education, journalism and media. This air sign is big on mind and communication, and further advancements in AI may be boggling. Modes of transportation of goods and information, and travel systems are also up for review.
Uranus is more comfortable in this adaptable and nimble sign than it was in resistant Taurus. Going forward, we may find ourselves better able to embrace the global fast-moving events, innovation and unpredictability. And on a personal level, able to embrace change where once we may have balked.
Also on Saturday, the Sun in stubborn Taurus squares off with powermonger Pluto. People may dig in their heels and make mountains out of very trivial molehills. They also tend to want to get their own way at whatever cost, which may require us to use all out diplomatic skills.
On Sunday, Mercury forms a semisquare to Venus which inspires expression through art or romance, or to get creative with our posts and texts. And since the winged planet also squares Jupiter, we may exaggerate our communications. This optimistic combo can spur some to overcommit or overshare ideas, so it’s best to keep one foot on the ground.
Especially since love goddess Venus forms a sextile to Neptune, further enhancing our imaginative and romantic leanings. A gentle aspect, it invites us to dream and to idealize, weaving a spell of enchantment in relationships and creative pursuits. Jupiter also aspects Venus, adding oomph to the desire to connect. While this can make us more outgoing and sociable, it may also cause us to overdo it. It’s important to take off the rose-coloured glasses with other people, as we tend to see them in an idealized light.
