Start your engines! Pivotal planetary moves bring energy and clarity, and while we’re not ready for the fast lane yet, progress is promising.
The week begins with the Moon shifting into soulful Pisces on Monday, placing mindfulness and compassion front and centre. Venus’ sextile to Jupiter and semisquare to Neptune prompts us to reach out to loved ones, to connect with others both near and far. The lunar influence may inspire greater social connection or encourage us to indulge a little more freely. Nonetheless, it’s wise to remember that not everyone has our best interests at heart.
The benevolent lunar vibes continue into Tuesday. We also benefit from the Mercury sextile Uranus aspect in play, which brings fresh, inventive ideas. Intuition is off the charts during the winged planet’s final hours in the sign of Pisces, and so our minds are wide open to new and unfamiliar concepts.
Also that day, Mercury leaves Pisces and moves through Aries from late evening of April 14 to May 2. Thanks to last month’s retrograde, we’ve had a longer than usual stint of the planet in the sign of the Fish, conducive to reflection and intuition but also bringing occasional mental confusion and indecisiveness. In the sign of the Ram, Mercury revs up, moving boldly forward with sharp thinking, quick decisions and direct communications. Under its bold aegis, thoughts cycle into actions more quickly, as Mercury now joins the Sun, Mars, Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Some of us may find ourselves shooting from the lip and regretting it later. Lack of tact is also a pitfall during this transit.
With so much Aries energy, it’s easy to assume that this should be a gung-ho week. But until Friday’s New Moon, we’re in the lull that always comes before this important reset. So there can be a lot of spring fever-type energy, highly restless, stirred up with no particular place to go.
On Wednesday, the Moon joins the planetary pileup in Aries, making mostly positive aspects. It’s a dynamic day, perfect for both brainstorming and implementing. Earlier in the day is more productive than later. A Venus semisquare Mars aspect can bring about subtle challenges within relationships, though. Moments of tension can arise, often stemming from uncertainty regarding when to take a stand and when to yield to others. Minor misunderstandings or disagreements are possible, as the balance between assertiveness and accommodation becomes hard to achieve.
On Thursday, Mars sextiles Pluto, which helps us to act decisively, showing persistence and resolve in pursuing goals. We may find ourselves more easily keeping an eye on the prize as we overcome obstacles. As well, mental Mercury is conjunct nebulous Neptune this day. Under this aspect, the mind becomes highly intuitive and imaginative. Creativity and mindfulness thrive under it; it’s an ideal day for art, meditation and bodywork. Decision-making may be less clear, though, so it’s not the best time for addressing issues that require logical analysis or pragmatic solutions.
We shift into high gear on Friday with a New Moon at 7:52 am EDT. That’s when the Sun and Moon meet at 27 degrees of Aries, and this time they’re not alone—eight planetary bodies gathering in the same sign: the planets Neptune, Mercury, Mars and Saturn, asteroids Eris and Chiron, plus the Sun and Moon. Expect a meteoric surge of fiery Aries energy, with intense emotions and quick-moving developments. At times, it can feel invigorating to be back in the race, at others like events are outpacing us uncontrollably. The New Moon also squares powermonger Pluto, adding extra passion to the mix. This challenging aspect can mean we overcompensate when attempting to control situations, which often shows up as confrontations, power plays, or resentment.
The weekend brings brief respite from the breakneck momentum, with the Moon in placid, grounded yet luxury-loving Taurus for most of it. As well, on Sunday the Sun moves into the sign of the bull, nudging us to slow down lay down a good foundation so we can build on what we’ve begun. That way, it can best serve us over the long haul. Until May 20, we’ll also want to slow down and take more time to smell the daffodils and otherwise enjoy nature and life’s little pleasures. Our practicality is heightened, too, as is resistance to change. Familiarity and comfort become more important.
Also on Sunday, Mars conjoins Saturn, always a hardworking combination. Under this aspects actions taken are more deliberate and determined, with an Aries interjection of courage and audacity. It can also bring an important checkpoint regarding that which was initiated with the great Saturn-Neptune conjunction on February 20. It’s an excellent time to take stock of progress made and perhaps make some adjustments. To avoid: giving into impatience in the face of obstacles, a failing of the Ram, which leads to frustration.
